Devious Journal Entry

Mon Feb 2, 2009, 9:21 AM
I'm always amazed to find that these old sites are still running, and that I haven't been on in years. I am old as dirt, and I don't mean topsoil, I mean tough old hardpan.

This year my thing is to do more work with painting. I have had no traditional training apart from my mother's help (she did have said training and used to teach art). I have some native ability to get me by but I have been swotting away trying to keep the wind of "oh god I hate failure" behind my sails rather than in some more dangerous direction.

I've got a dream
I've got a plan
I'll leave this world
Live off the land
Once I get good
Once I get better

(Rheostatics, "PIN")

  • Listening to: Metric - Combat Baby
  • Reading: Yehuda Amichai, "Open Closed Open"

I live in limbo, out of school and headed for more school. I live in rivery marshy country that I love. I buy more books than I can read. Every night I write in collaboration with someone I have never met. It's a good life if you don't weaken.

Wow! Another excellent Canadian poet, only this one hiding quietly like treasure in a cave. If you get this message, know that your work is good and worth preserving.

Poor lustrum. He should come back and do that again. Ya don't get cut off anymore. Ah yes, I still remember the first comment you left on my page. Oh, well we won't talk about it, but hey you could return and redo it now. I am very glad you are back, Alex. Joy

"Causeway Bridge" is simply my favourite piece of poetry I've read here at devart.

Anyone who can create such imagery is an extremely talented person indeed.
